Another vegetable fan

Sam is at that lovely stage when he is just learning about communicating. Words are mimicked and he is so delighted to be starting to make himself understood.

Today as I cooked supper he pointed to the bubbling pots.

Sam - tay to?
Me - yes, potato. And there's the chicken
Sam - ic-ken
Me - yes, chicken. And look there's the broccoli.
Sam -  uh oh (with suitable face to match)

That'll be another fan of the green foodstuffs taking his place at my table then.... or not.

  1. Ha ha ha. Hilarious. What is it about broccoli? I read one time that for certain people, those greener vegetables take on an almost metallic flavour in the mouth, and they certainly do with me.

  2. Very funny. Mine are terrible eaters, in fact each child is more fussy than the previous one. Thank goodness I'm not having any more as they'd probably try to subsist on just air (and chocolate of course). I'm still hiding pureed vegetables in pasta sauce for my 6 year old.

  3. Children do seem to have an innate suspicion of all things green. Funnily enough, LB1 will now eat raw brocolli dipped in hummus. But no other way - and definitely not cooked.
