One for the Dads

There's a whole load of 'mothers are the real Olympic heroes' type stuff doing the rounds at the moment. But I have to say that I haven't seen one celebrating Dads for a bit, which is a shame as Dads role in their childrens life needs to be celebrated just as much.

Anyway, when it comes down to parents helping their Olympian children out there is one moment that stands above all the others. Anyone remember the 400m semi final of the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona? Derek Redmond, who had trained for years, been injured at the Seoul Olympics was in amazing form and tipped to win a medal. His Dad was watching in the stands. Watch the video and I defy you not to blub. And here's to all those amazingly wonderful Dads, who would do exactly the same for their children. Happy Father's Day.
